Doctor Hudson's Secret Journal
Published in Hardcover by Buccaneer Books (June, 1992)
Author: Lloyd C. Douglas
Average review score:

fictionalized version of a how-to book on personal power
Probably one of the best books to describe how to attain personal power and gifts. It was written as a prequel to Magnificent Obsession, which refers often to the journal kept by Dr. Hudson, a journal which dramatically changed the life of Bobby Merrill. I've tried the formula and it works! Some rhetoric about the possibility of WWI is amusing considering that the same rhetoric is touted about nuclear war.

Doing Biology
Published in Textbook Binding by Addison-Wesley Pub Co (January, 1997)
Authors: Joel B. Hagen, Douglas Allchin, and Fred Singer
Average review score:

A must book for good biology teachers.
This thin volume gives great historical perspectives on the problems of developing some of the major ideas in biology. For example when discussing beriberi the authors point out the problem of trying to overcome the current influence of Pasteur and Koch's postulates. Almost until Eijkman's death scientists were searching for a microorganism that lived on the polished rice. Grinjins research was to lead to the nutrient deficiency concept. The questions that accompany the text are thought provoking rather than recall. A very refreshing approach to questioning. For example. "Between 1885 and 1906, 17 different researchers claimed to have found the microorganism that caused beriberi. Other researchers, including Koch, had searched for the infectious agent and failed to find one. They concluded that beriberi was not bacterial at all. From the perspective of someone who thought that beriberi was infectious, suggest several reasons why Eijkman, Koch, and others might have failed. Was failure to find a pathogen definitive in this case? Where should the burden of proof lie here?"

Domestic Plants and Animals: The Egyptian Origins
Published in Paperback by Aris & Phillips (December, 1994)
Authors: Douglas J. Brewer, Donald B. Redford, and Susan Redford
Average review score:

great book on plants and mammals of Ancient Egypt
The book presents a variety of Egyptian plants (grains, oils, fruits, vegetables) and animals (cattle, donkeys, camels, cats, dogs, monkeys, birds, bees). The authors cover the origins of agriculture and of the plants, as well as the evidence of those found in Egypt. They also discuss breeds of animals. A concise bibliography is provided for those wishing to consult for further information; this is an excellent reference to have handy.

Domicide: The Global Destruction of Home
Published in Hardcover by McGill-Queens University Press (November, 2001)
Authors: J. Douglas Porteous and Sandra E. Smith
Average review score:

A compelling addition to Urban Studies reading lists
Domicide: The Global Destruction Of Home, collaboratively written by J. Douglas Porteous (Professor of Geography, University of Victoria, British Columbia) and Sandra E. Smith (Adjunct Assistant Professor of Geography, University of Victoria, British Columbia), is a compelling study of the razing of people's homes, through motives that range from persecution for ethnicity or religious beliefs, to building disrepair, to an ostensible need for a new highway or airport. Individual chapters address the true nature of this occurrence and its devastating consequences, and discuss possible solutions to wholesale home destruction. A sober and fascinating account, Domicide is a compelling addition to Urban Studies reading lists and contemporary social issues reference collections.

Double Classics Black Beauty/Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm

Authors: Anna Sewell and Kate Douglas Wiggin
Average review score:

Classic Library double book!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love horses a lot & the color black & Black Beauty is my favorite horse stories ever such as The Black Stallion, My Friend Flicka, King of the Wind, Gypsy colt & other horse stories.

Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is another story in this book!

Anna Sewell's Black Beauty & Kate Douglas Wiggin's Rebbeca of Sunnybrook Farm are in 1 book you will love!!!!!!

The illustrations in Black Beauty are illustrated by Cecil Aldin & Glenn Steward & illustrations in Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm are illustrated by Glenn Steward.

Black Beauty is like a video called "Tall Tale: The Unbelievable Adventure" by actor Patrick Swayze & Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm is like a video called "That Darn Cat" & the two videos called "Tall Tale" & "That Darn Cat" are Walt Disney movies.

Black Beauty would be a black quarter horse with a white star & white foot & I could use him in a rodeo for the calf roping & team roping event at The National Finals Rodeo in Las, Vegas Nevada at The Thomas & Mack Center.

Black Beauty would be at different rodeos.

Black Beauty & Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm are a good book!!!!!!

I loved this book & I enjoyed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doug Hannon's Field Guide for Bass Fishing
Published in Paperback by Great Outdoors Pub Co (October, 1983)
Authors: R. Douglas Hannon, Douglas Hannon, and W. Horace Carter
Average review score:

Higher learning from the Bass Professor!
Hand's down, this has to be the best reference manual for Bass fishing ever to be published. Whether you are just starting out, or a pro on the circuit, you will learn to catch the lunker you have always dreamed of, or you will atleast avoid the embarassment of coming home empty handed. At first I was skeptical, and had no prior knowledge of Doug Hannon until a friend of mine told me about the Bass Professor. His book has truly shed a whole new light on my thought process of Bass fishing! It has a quick on the water reference section to tell you when to use what type of lure, and under what conditions. This is a must have book! This will be the best small investment that you have ever made, if you are truly serious about Bass fishing!

Definitely A-1!
If you are a Skyraider fan, you MUST get this book. It has the entire developmental history of the A-1. A very informational book that is more than just pretty photos...
